Seventeen-Year-Old Luce is a new student at Sword & Cross, an unwelcoming boarding/reform school in Savannah, Georgia. Luce’s boyfriend died under suspicious circumstances, and now she carries the guilt over his death with
her as she navigates the unfriendly halls at Sword & Cross, where every student seems to have an unpleasant—even evil—history.
It’s only when she sees Daniel, a gorgeous fellow student, that Luce feels there’s areason to be here—though she doesn’t know what it is. And Daniel’s frosty cold demeanor toward her? It’s really a protective device that he’s used again . . . and again. For Daniel is a fallen angel, doomed to fall in love with the same girl every 17 years . . . and watch her die. And Luce is a fellow immortal, cursed to be reincarnated again and again as a mortal girl who has no idea of who she really is.
My Thoughts
WOW! A mystifyingly awesome book.
I completely LOVED it. I read it all in one sitting. It was just that good!
Page after page, the thrilling events all kept me engaged and reading. There was nothing confusing. Everything is plain and simple. Definitely easy to understand.
I love the way Daniel and Luce met. It wasn't the typical cliche- love at first sight. She saw him. He saw her. Then flipped her off. LOL. Very unique I'll say.
The way Daniel's and Luce's relationship grows and deepens is very intense. I like how it develops and how their first kiss is near the end of the book. Its not sudden but something to wait for.
I love the whole concept of angels especially how Daniel's wondrous wings are described. The events are constant and consuming.
Lauren Kate really knows how to keep a reader engaged. A breathtaking read.
Cant wait to read Torment!
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed this so much! I just got it last week. I will have to move it up on my TBR pile! Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteWow, you read the whole book in one sitting? I'd be sitting for two days solid to do that lol. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. This series really does sound awesome and as you know, I won signed copies of this and Torment last week. Good to know I'm going to enjoy them :D
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it. :) I absolutely loved 'Fallen' and can't wait to get my hands on 'Torment'. I read and reviewed this on my blog not too long ago. It's a great start to a series.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Well I had this book pegged wrong. I thought this was of the insta-love variety where the main characters get together early on. Thanks for setting me straight!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVED Fallen! I agree with everything you've said ...Great Review! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Fallen. It's really a good book, and I can't wait for Passion, the third book of this series
ReplyDeleteI bought this and I can't wait for reading it.:) Thanks to you, especially.:D
ReplyDeleteI just adored this book! I haven't gotten around to reading Torment yet but I must. Glad you enjoyed it too! Great review as usual!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you liked this book :) I didn't completely love it, but I liked Torment a lot better :) I too loved how Daniel flipped her off at first hahah
ReplyDeleteFallen's another book I've wanted to read, and the cover is absolutely beautiful in a gloomy way.
ReplyDeleteThe storyline is interesting also, and your review made the book sound even more desirable to read! Keep up the great work!
awesome books!
ReplyDeletehope i win this from your giveaway

I've got this up stairs, you've convinced me to pick it up,
ReplyDeleteThanks(;
Wow, glad to see you loved it! I've had this book on my nook for quite some time, and I've yet to read it. I better start soon!
ReplyDeleteWow! You're the 1st person that I heard (read) that said the flipping of Daniel to Luce was unique. I agree with you on that! Lauren Kate knows how to write a story that's just soo good! I read this and Torment and currently reading Passion! (enjoying so far!)
ReplyDeleteI love this book. It is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like this book at all. It was pretty much the same like many other books. I didn't find there nothing original. Still, you write great review on Fallen. :)
ReplyDeleteI like this book, but I found it was really slow at times and I struggled with it a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love this book!! And Daniel is delicios!!
ReplyDeleteAnother book that I happened to buy and I am tempted to read it but UGH my one book at a time rule, how i wish to break it! LOL i'm glad you enjoyed this one :)
ReplyDeleteI read this book in my native language - Slovac and i just did not like it at all - sorry... The story was quite predictable for me, characters were really one-dimensional, i didnt care for Luce - which is a bda thing, i guess... but still i am considering picking up the sequel as i want to know more about Cam!
ReplyDeleteI actually think this is one of the worst books I've read. It's dull & unoriginal. The pacing is slow & Luce is naive & annoying.
ReplyDeleteBut, great to know you loved it. Nice review!
i love the thought of daniel loveing luce just because of a curse but then luce finding out it's not just from the curse but that daniel truely does love luce<3<3<3 great review !!!
ReplyDeleteThis is by far my favorite series!!!I absolutely love Luce and Daniel! Torment is great too! and Passion is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you liked it. I had begun to read it a while ago, but I only got a few pages in because I thought the scenery was described way too much and that annoyed me. I'm mad at myself for not finishing the book, though. haha. So I guess since you liked it so much, I can give it a chance. I'll go and finish it. Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing amazing things about Fallen. I desperately want to read it, but it's always checked out at the library. Probably should go ahead and bite it. I'm pretty sure I'll love it. I've definitely jumped on board the angel bandwagon that has hit a peak in the past couple years with Fallen; Hush, Hush; Halo by Alexandra Adornetto (I recommend that one. It's sweet and the sequel will be released soon).
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this book the whole series is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to start this book and your review really makes me want to check it out now xD
ReplyDeleteWow! I tried reading this book once, but didn't get very far. I decided not to read anymore, but your review has changed my mind! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is another book (series) i really want to read. Definitely a must! Glad you loved it.
