Everyone accepted that people were different physically. But inside? Inside, they were different too. You just had to know how to tell, what to look for.
Evil has been eradicated. The City has been established. And citizens may only enter after having the 'evil' part of their brain removed. They are labelled on the System according to how 'good' they are. If they show signs of the evil emerging, they are labelled a K . . . But no one knows quite what that means. Only that they disappear, never to be seen again . . .
My Thoughts
Gemma Malley! I've been a big fan of her books right after I devoured her The Declaration trilogy. I LOVED reading them. Her writing had a awe to it that I didn't see before. When I received The Killables I didn't take much notice of it but not until I saw Gemma Malley printed on the cover. I instantly left everything I was doing and jumped to the chance of reading. I had serious high expectations.
Horray for another dystopian novel. I just can't get enough of them. In The Killables we're introduced to a society where 'evil' ceases to exist and people are marked in regards to how 'good' they are. How cool does that sound.
Evie is not to bad either. I liked her character a lot but please excuse me as I have to first rush into what I didn't like associated with her. Raffy. Let me tell you about Raffy. Here's the thing. Raffy doesn't deserve what her has. He acts like a child that has no understanding, no care and no responsibility. He makes rash decisions without a thought about the consequences. I mean, he's just SO frickin selfish I feel like being mean to him! Okay so that's the worst I can think of but yeah, I hope I've established how much I dislike him.
I don't think I would have disliked him as much as I do if it wasn't for William. William is Raffy's brother. And he is everything that Raffy is not. He has understanding, he does care and he sure as hell is responsible. The number of things he has done, the amount he has sacrificed is just amazing. William deserves so much more and I love all these things about him. And for once, I love a guy character mainly because of what he is, not how he looks like. (Not that he's not good looking. I'm sure he is!)
Okay. So on to the story! A lot of secrets are revealed. Although, it's something good to help them all, a secret was kept a secret for a reason so it's only giving that something bad would string along. These revelations help Evie and Raffy make sense of the world they live in and help them decide what on earth to do next. It's a great atmosphere full of so much drive.
How exciting! And, as you can tell The Killables met my expectations, if not, then further. My only wish now is that William gets. what. he. WANTS!!!! As you can tell, I get very emotional when I'm talking about William. I will only be at rest until I read the next book. I need it.

Here's an extract too!
A breeze rolls up from the water, and I realize at once how numb the cold air and wet clothes have made me. We should find someplace to stay, but where? I sit up and take in our surroundings. There’s sand and rocks for several more yards, but beyond that I can see the shadows of buildings. A lone freight truck lumbers down a faraway road, and I think soon it’ll be dark enough for Gatherer vans to start patrolling the area with their lights off. This would be the perfect place for them to hunt; there don’t appear to be any streetlights, and the alleyways between those buildings could be full of scarlet district girls.
Gabriel, of course, is more concerned about the blood. He’s trying to wrap my palm with a piece of seaweed, and the salt is burning the wound. I just need a minute to take this all in, and then I’ll worry about the cut. This time yesterday, I was a House Governor’s bride. I had sister wives. At the end of my life, my body would end up with the wives who died before me, on a rolling cart in my father-in-law’s basement, for him to do only he knows what.
But now there’s the smell of salt, sound of the ocean. There’s a hermit crab making its way up a sand dune. And something else, too. My brother, Rowan, is somewhere out here. And there’s nothing stopping me from getting home to him.

Can you guess what happened? Yep, the UK publishers decided the change the cover of Bloodlines to fit in with US ones. They're not exactly same, there is a bit of a differnce. Anyways, what can I say! I am so relieved. I really did not like the other cover at at all. I was going to buy the US book after knowing how the UK one looked. COVER ALERT
The cover for The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa has already been released a long time ago but now recently, Julie Kagawa revealed the back of The Iron Knight! I personally LOVE the front! Ash is everything I imagined him to be and as you can guess the back is Puck! Puck's character is just so great but I'm not a big fan of the back cover. I suppose you can recognise it's Puck but it's not as great as the front.

_____________
Second book to Divergent is titled
Heres what Veronica had to say on her blog:
This post really wouldn't be complete without a dictionary definition, so here it is:
INSURGENT.
Origin: 1755–65; < Latin insurgent- (stem of insurgÄ“ns ) present participle of insurgere: to get up, ascend, rebel.
1. a person who rises in forcible opposition to lawful authority, especially a person who engages in armed resistance to a government or to the execution of its laws; rebel.
2. a member of a section of a political party that revolts against the methods or policies of the party.
3. one that acts contrary to the established leadership (as of a political party, union, or corporation) or its decisions and policies
4. (international law) a person or group that rises in revolt against an established government or authority but whose conduct does not amount to belligerency
1. a person who rises in forcible opposition to lawful authority, especially a person who engages in armed resistance to a government or to the execution of its laws; rebel.
2. a member of a section of a political party that revolts against the methods or policies of the party.
3. one that acts contrary to the established leadership (as of a political party, union, or corporation) or its decisions and policies
4. (international law) a person or group that rises in revolt against an established government or authority but whose conduct does not amount to belligerency
Not all of those definitions are equally applicable to the book-- some are more spot-on than others. But I won't tell you which ones yet.
Now all I have to do is finish! Back to the writing cave!
