Luscious Limelight: Jessica from Books, A True Story talks about her author adventures!

After reading the first three books in Aprilynne Pike's Wings series, I went online to find out more about these awesome books that I had read in only two days. As I'm browsing her website, I noticed that she had a list of events she was going to and one of them was the Book Festival in Provo, Utah – only an hour away from me. And guess what? James Dashner was going to be there, too. You mean, instead of wondering about some questions I have about The Maze Runner, I can ask him personally? I've been shucked and gone to heaven.

James Dashner gave a presentation at the Book Festival and he described exactly what I was feeling. He saw authors as being like Abraham Lincoln – famous and dead. Judy Blume was an idol of his and it was surreal to him that he got to meet her in real life and have tea and cake with her. Same here, dude.

Authors are the best kind of celebrities to meet because they aren't recognized immediately like movie stars which makes them more approachable. It's like they get to be famous and grounded at the same time. I was first in line to ask James Dashner the question that had been bugging me and didn't seem to be in any of the interviews I looked at online.

“Do your books have religious undertones or is that just me?”

James Dashner replied that he got that a lot, but it wasn't intentional. And when I read the last book “I would think something.” Okay. I was curious before, but now I'm plain dying to read the last one.

I didn't have anything intelligent to say to Aprilynne Pike besides that her books were awesome and OMG we have the same kindle covers. She was so nice and it felt awesome just to meet her. The other great authors I got to meet were Ally Condie, Brandon Mull and David Archuleta. I don't know that David Archuleta is a “great author,” but I was still star struck. It's my goal in life now to meet as many authors as possible. I haven't had that much fun in years.

Luscious Limelight: Courtney from Rondo of Possible World shares her Sparks from the Past

With all the new Debut Novels coming out and all of the 2011/2012 story teasers being leaked sometimes you need to catch up with some oldies that have inspired authors or have been the first of a series and the 452753th books is on its way :)

One book that I know has inspired many writers is Mark Zusak's The Book Thief. If you've read it, you'd agree that this novel is beautiful written and you fall in love with every character that Zusak has created. He paints a picture on every page and they are all beautifully illustrated for the reader. If you have yet to read his book or any of his novels I extremely recommend them!

Another book that I have heard many good things about and I truly enjoyed reading over the years was The Uglies Series. Scott Westerfeld revived a dystopian universe for young adults with his Perfect World that Tally Youngblood lives in. This is truly a creative and wonderful dystoipan centered novel that will truly knock you off your feet and steal you away from the dinner table because you're too wrapped up in it! Trust me, I know from experience.


If you've read Crank by Ellen Hopkins then you should check out Go Ask Alice by Anonymous. It's a definite must-read for Ellen Hopkins fans. The book is formatted as a diary where you read about a young girl who is slipped drugs at a party and her life spirals down from that day. It's such a realistic and gruesome tale that happens a lot in society nowadays. It's very sad to say that :(

The older the book happens to be, the more sentimental value it holds to its reader. I can say that these books I hold near and dear to my heart and their stories will here stored there as well. I'm sure all of you have oldies that you've loved and always reflect back upon, so tell us, what are they?

Luscious Limelight: A Book Bloggers spotlight!

Hi guys!
Recently I've come across alot of blogs that hold guest posts in which other bloggers talk about something random and fun on another bloggers blog. So this is where Lucious Limelight comes in! I've decided to my own weekly spotlight so book bloggers like yourself can talk about anything bookish.

I've been thinking about this for quite a while. I've decided start it just now as I think I've found the perfect title for this spotlight. It took me ages to find a catchy and appealing spotlight title. LOL. Now it's taking me ages to make a button for it. So thats probably going to take quite a while too...
