Avalon High seems like a typical high school, attended by typical students: There's Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy.
But not everybody at Avalon High is who they appear to be ... not even, as new student Ellie is about to discover, herself. What part does she play in the drama that is unfolding? What if the bizarre chain of events and coincidences she has pieced together means -- as with the court of King Arthur -- tragedy is fast approaching Avalon High? Worst of all, what if there's nothing she can do about it?
My Thoughts
After reading, Arthur high king of Britain, I really enjoy reading books revolving around the medieval times. This is where Avalon high comes in.  It's one of my favourites and so I really loved reading it.

Will and Ellie are adorable. I just knew that the first time they met; they will need to be together. The fire and intensity is there and its really fun reading the times between them. It's great that what they have is not the love at first sight kind of thing thing but like, 'I've seen you before' kinda thing. Freakishly awesome!

Usually, I’m not a big fan of fighting and killing. But In Avalon High I really enjoyed all the action. There’s like this element of suspense and thrill wanting to know what will happen and how the story will end. Especially the big 'happening' at the end will Marco, the twist in the story was great! And Marco's face? Priceless!

I loved the ending. I like the fact that the book finished in good terms. I was a bit disappointed when I found out there’s only two books in the series. But there's something I can say for definite is that, this is a book that I can read over and over again without feeling not a bit of boredom!

  1. HOW did I not know this book had a sequel?? I'll definitely be checking that out. So glad you liked this book, I loved the originality of it.

Thanks so much for taking part in my bloghop!

    The Cait Files

  2. I didn't know there was a sequel either! I keep trying to read this, but my students keep taking it!

Have you seen the Disney channel movie version? I haven't, but I want to. After I read the book of course.

Thanks for being a part of Review Appreciation Day. I found your post/blog from there!

  3. I read this book two years ago and remember enjoying it (although I can't remember anything about the ending!). I did not know there was a sequel though! I will have to go look for it!!!! And a disney channel version? I feel so behind on the times!

  4. I haven't read this, but I did, however see the movie which made me want to read it! Great review, too!

  5. I didn't know this book has a sequel or was made into a movie, so I'm going to try to track down both. This is one of those books that I read in high school but which has stayed with me all these years. Truly a memorable read. I know I'll never forget this one!

  6. Awesome review! Avalon High is one of my favorites of Meg Cabot. It's exactly what you said, the medieval-focus, the fact that it's actually in the present but the legend still unfolds. And YES, the action is actually written quite well. I loved the characters, I loved the twists, and I loved the ending. I actually feel like rereading it now because I've missed it.

(Please tell me you did not watch the film. It didn't do the book justice!)

  7. Glad you liked it! I watched the film and then read the book, although I have to say the book is definitely always better :D

  8. I've read this book back in either seventh or eighth grade. It was an interesting story plot and concept. King Arthur history passed down in high school students. I didn't think i would have liked it but i'm always proved wrong by Mag Cabot :)

  9. I wonder if this book is as good as the movie was? Might have to try it out :]

Oh, I loved this book, I'm so glad to hear you liked it too!!!! I thought it was really good, and fairly original. I loved Will, of course :) Thanks for the review!!!!!

  11. Loved this book. Nobody beats Meg Cabot at adapting myths into beautifully solid stories. I wish the sequel was a regular book, though, as I'm not a fan of manga. :( And I was terribly disappointed with the movie version. Disney didn't capture the passion, the darkness, the heart of the story.

  12. I just added this to my wishlist! Thanks for the review.

  13. I saw a film based on this movie a few months back, Cabot is a funny author, I should have a look at this one.

  14. I've seen the movie on this and it looks like a cool story

  15. Everyone keeps telling me how amazing Meg Cabot is, is she really that good?

Do I REALLY have to read her books? (:

  16. This book was AWESOME. Totally agree with you. But wasn't like the sequels all manga or something?? I did read those. I've heard loads of stuff about the movie (some good and bad) but nothing compares to the book :)

  17. This book is AMAZING! Loved your review, you summed it up perfectly.

  18. This book is really good, and I loved your review!! This book was the first book that I read by meg cabot and I think that this book is one of the bests. It's great you put one blog that talk about books, it's too interesting!

  19. I have had this out from the library a couple times and still haven't read it!
